Simulation specialist Astragon Entertainment has shuttered decades-old studio Astragon Development to refocus on publishing.

Astragon Development was formerly known as Independent Arts and according to its website employed over 40 people. The studio had been developing titles since 1990 and styled itself as one of the "most established" studios in Germany.

Its latest release, Seafarer: The Ship Sim, launched weeks ago on September 24, 2026.

Astragon Entertainment, which is owned by Everplay Group (the parent company of Team17), acquired the studio in April 2023 to assist with the development of its simulation brands and craft new franchises.

Now, just over three years later, the company is being shuttered as part of what Astragon is calling a "strategic realignment."
