Ubisoft is placing more studios on the chopping block after initiating plans to restructure around five 'Creative Houses' and implement a sweeping return-to-office policy.

The French publisher has proposed the closure of Finnish studio RedLynx less than a year after gutting the company by making up to 60 people redundant. At the time, RedLynx leadership said the studio would "refocus on small screens." Now, it will seemingly be bulldozed entirely.

"Today, we informed our teams of a proposal to close RedLynx in Finland, subject to the local change negotiation process, which would affect up to 52 positions," the firm said in a statement obtained by GamesIndustry.biz.

The closure also comes just over one year after RedLynx worked some magic to bring Star Wars Outlaws to Nintendo Switch 2. In its review, Digital Foundry said the port—developed in tandem with Ubisoft Massive—was "the most impressive demonstration of Switch 2 technology we've yet seen" and a "ray tracing revelation."

The downsizing isn't stopping there. Ubisoft intends to cut 70 jobs at Ubisoft Singapore, best known for working on titles like Skull & Bones and Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. The latter was recently lauded by Ubisoft after selling over 3 million copies in a week.

"At Ubisoft Singapore, 70 positions have been impacted to align the studio with upcoming production needs. The studio remains an important part of Ubisoft’s global production organization. We deeply value the contributions of both teams and recognize the impact this may have on our colleagues. We are committed to supporting our teams throughout this process and conducting it with care and respect," a Ubisoft representative told GamesIndustry.biz.

Back in June, Ubisoft shuttered its studios in Winnipeg and Belgrade and proposed further job reductions across its Barcelona studio and global publishing business. A source familiar with the situation told Game Developer the cuts could result in up to 380 people losing their jobs.
