Capcom delivered record software sales during the six months ended September 30 (H1 2027) thanks to rising catalog sales and the launch of a new franchise in Pragmata.
Total video game software sales increased by 54.5 percent year-on-year to 36.8 million units worldwide during H1. Catalog sales accounted for 87.3 percent of that total (32.2 million units) and also reached record levels.
Digital sales represented 92.4 percent of total H1 software sales.
Discussing the performance of individual titles, Capcom revealed Onimusha: Way of the Sword has surpassed 1.7 million sales worldwide since launching on September 4, 2026. Meanwhile, Pragmata has sold over 2.7 million units globally following its April 2026 debut.
Established franchises Resident Evil and Monster Hunter drove catalog sales, with Resident Evil Requiem (released in February 2026) surpassing lifetime sales of 8 million units.
"Additionally, ongoing sales growth for titles in the same series supported earnings, led by Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 2," added Capcom.
The company didn't explicitly mention the Resident Evil movie adaptation, but given the flick hit theatres on September 18—just before the quarter closed—that's not entirely unsurprising.
Elsewhere, the Monster Hunter series received a sales bump after Capcom announced an expansion called Ascendance for Monster Hunter Wilds and confirmed plans to bring the title to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
Devil May Cry 5, which debuted in 2019, eclipsed 14 million lifetime sales after launching on Switch 2 in June.
Overall, Capcom's Digital Contents business (the home of its video game operations) delivered net sales of 85.1 billion yen (up 70.8 percent year-on-year) and operating profit of 52.3 billon yen (up 66.7 percent year-on-year).
