The wonderful thing about running your own video game website is that when you've spent all week writing about layoffs, union busting, financials and other very important news you can simply turn around and choose to write a sentence like 'holy shit, isn't that pylon from *Control Resonant* drop dead gorgeous?'

What a life I now lead.

In case you missed it (and I'm going to assume you did), Remedy senior hard surface artist Sebastian Schulz has just [uploaded a deluge of asset shots](https://www.artstation.com/s%5Fschulz?ref=verticalslice.news) (including some work-in-progress snaps) to Artstation.

This is tremendous news for two reasons.

1. Art sickos and anybody with a gooey soft spot for freaky brutalist surfaces (the irony, I know) is about to have an absolute field day. Just take a second and savour the subtle wear on that intercom. Don't even get me started on those decadent cardboard cutouts and their horrifying eyeballs.
2. It has allowed me to spend 20 minutes of an otherwise very rudimentary Thursday deciding what I truly want out of my pylons, generators, miscellaneous medical equipment, metaphysical creatures, and other unassuming objects while marvelling at the superlative artistry and lighting on display in *Control Resonant*.

I've taken the liberty of arranging some of my favourite pieces from Schulz's expanding oeuvre below, but I encourage you to [feast your eyes on the whole collection](https://www.artstation.com/s%5Fschulz?ref=verticalslice.news).
