If you were one of the intelligent, charming, and impeccably-dressed rapscallions who subscribed to Vertical Slice last week, you might have noticed you were given the chance to sign up for not one, but **TWO** whole newsletters.

Your peepers did not lie. Not content with simply hurling out news and originals with the finesse of an all-star quarterback (Ghost reckons a lot of my readers are in the U.S.), Vertical Slice will also be flinging verbiage into your inbox on a regular basis.

Our first newsletter, **Headliner**, will be a weekly rundown of the most impactful stories from across the video game industry, triple-distilled for readers with discerning taste.

We are microbial compared to the stomping kaiju that is the news cycle. Even I—a human being whose rent payments are now hinging on my ability to finger the pulse—cannot possibly cover everything. Though, you might have noticed [Vertical Slice published THIRTY stories last week](https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:t53ijuodvbcjbislhyu6te4r/post/3mxyu3g4yu22u?ref=verticalslice.news), so I'm giving it a fair shot.

Headliner will round out the week every Friday. Because we've committed to ensuring people have access to all coverage until November 2, 2026, the first two editions will be free. A little taste of what's to come for the early birds. After that, it will be locked behind the paywall forever more. Damn.

The second newsletter, **Slice of Life**, will be a more personal offering. A monthly (for now, at least) diary filled with top-secret inside baseball tidbits and other assorted musings. The intent is to publish during the final week of each month—probably on Wednesday. That feels like a solid contender.

It's here you'll receive updates on the overall health of Vertical Slice and our plans for the future. I'll provide details on subscriber numbers, tease interviews, solicit feedback, and just generally shoot the breeze.

Maybe I'll share opinions on an actual real life video game. Perhaps you'll receive 300 words on the non-negotiable that is [watching Barry Can't Swim crack out an all-timer of a DJ set at a snooker club on a Tuesday](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=py9BXXNxjUI&ref=verticalslice.news). Before writing this article (a Saturday evening endeavour) I made a storming chicken biryani. Would you like the recipe? Well think again, chump.

In the interest of opening up a conversation with **YOU**—the irreplaceable reader—I'd also enjoy answering any questions you have about *this whole thing*. No, that doesn't include the biryani. If there's something you've been dying to know about Vertical Slice, video game journalism, or another topic you feel I'm qualified to dissect, then fire away.

Just toss your questions over to our [contact email](mailto: contact@verticalslice.news) with the subject **'Slice of Life'** and I'll do my best to get them answered! And remember, newsletters are for paying subscribers only. [**Don't make me tap the sign**](https://www.verticalslice.news/limited-time-launch-sale-now-on/).
